European Elections, A Punishment To The Left

EU elections

Center right parties have done well, all across Europe, in the election to the European parliament at the expense of the left.

Far right & anti-immigrants parties also made gains. In the UK, far right BNP won two seats.

The UK labour party, Germany’s social democrats & France’s socialist party experienced historic defeats.

The turnout was the lowest on record yet at 43 %.

France’s Agence France Press headlines its coverage with “Conservative parties clean up EU poll”. French left leaning Liberation put the accent on the good performance of the Green party.

The BBC report focus on the historic set back for the labour party & Gordon Brown.

The Center right will remain in control of the EU parliament. The low participation of 43% is alarming to all analysts.
