I think it would be great for the President to show personal leadership by using solar power at the White House. But even more importantly, the U.S. government needs to show political leadership by supporting renewable energy in the policies it sets. As President Obama said in his speech, the largest markets for the CEOs he met with are Europe and Japan. We need policies in the U.S. that would provide strong incentives for the development and use of renewable energy in the U.S.

President Obama shouldn't miss this opportunity to promote the use and benefits of solar power. I'm sure the US and other countries would be encouraged to adopt solar power more widely if the White House became an example of energy efficiency.
