Second Amendment zealots are not letting the bad economy stop them from buying guns. According to a news article published on Saturday by The Telegraph/UK, gun shops across the U.S. are having a heyday selling rifles and pistols to those afraid President Barack Obama may take away their right to bear arms.
The Telegraph’s article findings may have something to do with the rhetoric National Rifle Association leaders are using to fire up their members. The NRA is going around the country setting up meetings and urging members to fight for their guns at all costs.
“Are you ready for the tough fight ahead we’re gonna face to keep our freedoms?” said NRA’s Executive Director Wayne LaPierre to a room packed with members in Phoenix. “Because considering what our freedoms are going to be up against we all need to be ready,” he said as people cheered.
The NRA is using news media interviews against high level politicians to “expose” the threat they present to the Second Amendment. Playing short news clips of Senator Dianne Feinstein, Attorney General Eric Holder, President Obama, and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton being interviewed on various TV networks, LaPierre cautioned NRA members of the “the damn lies” that “keep coming” and that will result in banning guns in the country.

“Second Amendment zealots”? That must make protesters First Amendment zealots then. What the hell is that? Freedoms are freedoms.
Rights are certainly rights, although I can’t help but feel this is less about preserving rights and more about the NRA drumming up membership and sales.

Amazing what a little word substitution tells us about the writer.
Why are supporters of 2nd ammendment rights labeled zealots? Shouldn’t the story be about the fear Americans are feeling concerning their constitutional rights under this administration?

What “drums up” sales is not the NRA, it is Obama and his words/actions.
There are some 3 to 4 million NRA members, I’m not one of them, however I own several guns. It would be a safe bet that for every member of the NRA there are 40 gun owners who are not part of the NRA.
In the USA there is roughly 200 million guns in the hands of private citizens.
Actually, theres almost 400 million firearms owned by civilians in the united states.
According to a recent Rasmussen poll, a full 71 percent of Americans feel that it is “somewhat likely” that the Obama administration will seek tougher gun control laws. Obviously it’s the past record of administration officials that has caused nearly 3 out of every 4 Americans–not just “Second Amendment zealots”–to feel this way. Not just statements made at the NRA’s annual members’ meeting held Phoenix this past May.

gun laws and controls only stop law abiding citizens from having guns. Education keeps children from getting hurt. wake up people
rights are not to be compromised
With severe gun control (i.e., with nearly all guns in the hands of either criminals or agents of the State), Britain now has over FOUR TIMES the rate of violent crime as does the United States. Imagine putting a sign above your door: “We are unarmed and helpless! Please don’t hurt us!” That’s what schools do in the US (they are gun-free zones, by law) and guess where the crazies go to shoot innocent victims who can’t shoot back?
