Global Day Of Action On Iran
Today, large protests supported by leading international human rights groups such as Amnesty International & Human Rights Watch were held in more than 80 cities around the world.
Among them were London (see photo), New-York, Paris, Sydney, Seoul, Geneva, Prague, Amsterdam, San Francisco, Brussels, Berlin & Dublin. A large protest is scheduled later on today (6:00 PM/ US PST) in Los Angeles, which has one of the biggest Iranian communities in the world. The protest rally in Los Angeles will be held near UCLA.
The demonstrators are asking the Iranian authorities to free the thousands of people still held in detention without access to any form of legal representation.
In Amsterdam, Nobel prize laureate Shirin Ebadi urged the international community to reject the result of the election outright.
Meanwhile, in Iran the reformist candidate Mehdi Karroudi is accusing the Iranian regime of using repression tactics worse than the ones of Israel.
Karroudi wrote on his website: ” The behaviour of Iran’s security agents is worse than those of the Zionists in occupied Palestine.”
