I think many of us were and are interested in democracy for Honduras. Unfortunately it is very difficult to believe that "the people" of Honduras feel a certain way or want a certain thing if the President's attempt at an encuesta/survey of people's feelings/wishes was circumvented by having the military haul him out of his house and expelling him from the country. If he was worst president than CLEARLY the people could vote for another one. The encuesta prior to a potential referendum do not constitute an attack on democracy, asking the people's opinion IS democracy.

Brainfood and Molina in the previous replies are so clear and correct in understanding and voicing the woes that Honduras is going through because of Zelaya, Why can't the rest of the world and particularly Obama and Clinton not respond to this critical condition imposed on Democracy

How come everyone is interested in helping Honduras maintain democracy now? Where were all these well wishers while the country suffered through the worst president since the early 80's? Zelaya wanted to hold on to power by doing away with the constitution. The constitution specifically prohibits the kind of referendum Zelaya was determined to effect. The congress and the Supreme Court ordered the armed forces to take Zelaya out. The interim president was chosen by congress until the scheduled elections happen. The people of Honduras are relieved he is gone. It would be good for the writer of this article to read the Honduran constitution. Please do not write out of ignorance.

Every time he syas this or attempts to come in he causes a greta pain to everyone in Honduras. We really only want peace and for Zelaya and Chavez to leave us alone. It is not mentioned above but the foreign minitsr of Venezuela was riding shot gun with Zelaya. We want democracy, not soemone who wants to stay in power for more time than our constitution allows.
