Republican-Leaning Pollster Group Relentless At Showing Democrats Underperforming

public opinion

The Republican leaning polling organization, Rasmussen Reports, has been releasing polls showing that Democrats are polling lower against GOP candidates in certain states and that the country is heading the wrong direction.

Just a month ago, Rasmussen Reports did a poll showing that President Barack Obama’s approval rating had dropped to 49 percent; up to that date Obama’s approval rating had been at a record high for any president in office. But the news was picked up by most news organization except by those that refuse to use any polling information from Rasmussen. The polling organization has been accused of bias since its president was a consultant for the George W. Bush camp.

Today, Rasmussen is out again trying to convince Americans that the majority of them are unsatisfied with how Democrats are doing. On Monday, the polling group released a poll showing that Massachusetts Governor Deval Patrick is trailing behind his GOP rival, Chirsty Mihos — Rasmussen’ numbers: Patrick 35 percent, Mihos 40 percent.

On Wednesday, Rasmussen released results from a poll showing that only 34 percent of Americans believed the country was heading in the right direction, with 61 percent showing it was headed the wrong direction.

Also last week, a Rasmussen’s poll showed that 43 percent of Americans were more likely to vote for a Republican in a congressional race while Democrats got only 38 percent.

Rasmussen’s website also shows other polls, which show that only a small percent of Americans have been denied health coverage and that 49 percent of them want to opt-out Social Security. Rasmussen has also done a poll which shows that only 32 percent of American voters favored a single payer government run health care system, while the rest opposed it. Who is Rasmussen really polling? FOX News viewers only?

  1. Rasmussen is usually pretty accurate. In fact they were rated as one of the most accurate in both 2004 and 2008 presidential elections.

    Rasmussen’s numbers are usually a bit worse for democrats, not because they are wrong, but because they use a strict formula to calculate likely voters, not just registered voters.

    Rasmussen’s polls are based on who is actually likely to turn out to vote, not on the general public mood. Rasmussen explains this on their website.
    Republicans, churchgoers, conservatives, married people and seniors are more likely to voter than liberals, democrats and single youth. Its a fact.

  2. Great Post Gilbert! I’m so glad someone is out there debunking the outdated idea of a liberal media. Media has moved consistantly to the right since Regan and yet we still hear about the lefty media on a regular basis. Thanks for picking up the info the others drop.

  3. Sorry! Delores! Great Post!
