News Media Buying Into Right Wing Spin More Than Ever

This type of posters are being circulated by right wingers in their fear mongering efforts.

This type of posters are being circulated by right wingers in their fear mongering efforts.

The right-wing is scoring big points for its agenda thanks mostly to the news media. In recent weeks conservatives have become communications experts, attracting reporters and assignment editors to their complaints against Democrats and the Obama administration in general. From “death panels,” “socialized” healthcare,” to Obama’s “indoctrination” of school children, to forcing Van Jones to resign — the news media is being used as a megaphone for the GOP.

The surge of news about how Republicans are reacting to the White House and the Democratic majority in Congress has been extraordinary. Conservatives have band together to contact news agencies and force them to cover the Tea Parties, investigate Obama’s birth certificate, and to get those TV cameras to the health care town halls where they ambush public officials.

On the Free Republic, users have been posting contact information of assignment editors from TV and newspapers, urging their “fellows” to call and get the media to cover whatever they perceive as important. This is no small operation, great forces are behind the buzz to get the news media out to interview the parents of school children who fear Obama’s speech on Tuesday. Great efforts are being made to propagate claims that Obama is another Hitler. And the media is eating it all up.

The result? Millions of Americans at home, not knowing what to think or what to believe because the right wing is doing such a great job voicing their concerns with the aid of the TV cameras. Journalist are not analyzing what’s happening — what’s real and what are lies. They no longer operate as watchdogs for the public, but as the messengers of any message without scrutinizing facts from fiction. Assignment editors are not exercising good judgment with the type of stories that should be covered.

If the right continues to disseminate their false arguments as facts over the airwaves and the Internet with the power of the media behind them, Obama will be a one-term President. The public will be absolutely bought into the whole conservative spin, that not even a hundred Rachel Maddows, Bill Moyers, and Paul Krugman will be able to reverse.

There must be an alignment of all Progressives to stop the right wing from derailing the chances we have to finally have universal health care and all other needed reforms long overdue to the American people. We must remain engaged in the process — being outspoken, getting those reporters to hear both sides and pressuring them to discern truth from fiction.

It’s time for you to call and email those assignment editors and tell them that feeding in to the right wing fear mongering is not journalism. Encourage other Progressives to expose the propaganda machine behind each right-wing campaign. The news media has been caught up in the right’s effort to polarize and divide Americans. This is a wake up call.

That’s funny…you write a blog about Conservatives getting the news media to do stories on all of these issues..how ironic that finally happened when we have a liberal President, especially since over the years it’s been the exact opposite, news media coverage and bias on left-wing issues.

You’re kidding, right? After almost two years of the mainstream media treating Obama like some sort of deity, ignoring his numerous associations with America-hating radicals, refusing to question the hiding of virtually all of his personal and professional records and showing complete lack of concern over the appointment of at least 30 new “czars” who have unprecedented power but who are accountable to nobody but Obama, you whine that the media is coddling conservatives? I disagree with Ami. That’s not funny. That’s pathetic.

Way out man. Do I detect someone crying in their beer here. The news media have been very controlled on this in the past by the powers that be. Cut the spiel, Don’t you recognize a vote of no-confidence when you see it. This all revolves around the production of his documentation whatever the smokescreen. Legal fees of tens of thousands of dollars spent to prevent release. Victimisation, bullying, derision, all these have split your great country in the name of change!! Even you must be doubting now?.

If Ami thinks the news has ever had a left-wing bias she needs to cut bigger holes in her hood, because if you think what went on during the Bush administration was “left-wing bias” you certainly have a skewed perception of reality.

Obama has yet to prove his “natural-born” citizenship, which is a constitutional requirement to become president. He and his lawyers have spent close to 2 million dollars to keep his records hidden. They’ve gotten multiple cases thrown out on technicalities. It’s up again tomorrow. But Obama is trying to get it tossed again.

I hope the truth finally comes out!!

The media is just now beginning to look at this issue. They are woefully ignorant. There are many twists, turns, and traps in this story.

I have been researching this story for over a year. In the beginning I fell into several of the traps myself.

I honestly believe that I now know as much as anyone about what is true on this issue and what is not.

If you have not done so please look at the latest version of my collected research. It is 6000 words so grab a snack and a drink.

Somehow, you know its coming. That OMG moment is just around the corner. You can feel the inescapable reality creeping up on you. Something will leak. Someone will spill the beans.

The whole thing is an attempt to re-route the news cycle away from health care, and Obama is no more a Socialist than George Bush. My complete take at the Huffington Post: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/brian-ross/kids-stay-away-from-the-p_b_278200.html

Come on now. I’m about as far from a right-winger as you can get but I still see the truth in associating Obama with national socialism. He approved the bailouts under Bush and then expanded them when he was elected. He is escalating the war in Afghanistan and I still don’t believe he’ll withdraw all the the troops from Iraq. He kept Bush’s Secretary of Defense and just reappointed Bush’s disastrous Federal Reserve Chairman. I could go on with his unconstitutional actions regarding surveillance and extraordinary rendition, but you get the idea. If you thought these things were bad under Bush you betray yourself by ignoring or approving them under Obama. Mussolini said that “Fascism should more appropriately be called corporatism because it is the merger of business and state power.” Well… that’s exactly what we’ve had for a long time in this nation and it’s still the same under Obama. I call ‘em like I see ‘em and, by definition, Obama is a fascist. And I’ll keep pointing that out until the jackbooted thugs come for me. Even if healthcare passes, that won’t change the other essential facts because a friendly fascist is still a fascist — and not all that friendly. Good cop, bad cop. Left-wing corporate media, right-wing corporate media. It’s all the same old thing.

I submitted a post to this and it didnt come up? Whats up with that?

Anyway, Bush and the conservatards are more Nazi-like than Obama and the liberals.

Besides, political scientists have studied whether or not the media is left or right biased. Guess what they found. The media really is neutral. But that didnt stop the conservatards from crying “bias” anytime Bush was criticized. Are they crying now? No.

It just shows how conceited and forgetfull that conservatards are.

I’m not a socialist liberal, but I find conservatards to be reprehensible and nasty people. BTW: if you conservatards dont like America now, why don’t you leave?
