Woooo hooo! Lets send a fast moving projectile at he moon with no regard for human life whatsoever to see what happens. We are intelliegent scientists right and we have taken everything into consideration?

… hmmm why didn’t it produce the predicted six-mile-high plume of debris that should have been visible from Earth as we thought? o well at least it didn’t knock the moon out of it’s orbit … pass me the JD!

I as a member of the human race don’t remember being asked what I thought about bombarding the moon and I wonder what the Chinese or any other super power for that matter will think about this.

To the author – Your faux outrage at Rush is hilarious – at least I hope it is faux…you can’t be serious…can you?
If you are, I heard that we are expecting Cheese Rain as a result of bombing the moon. really.

I am continually amazed at the gullibility of some people. Many posting here as well as the author of this article slept through science class.

The moon is constantly bombarded by meteorites (Not the ones Rush says will retaliate!) many times heavier than this spent rocket shell and as far as I can tell, the moon has survived just fine.

Next time we see the moon, it will rise has it has for eons, the tides will still come and go, the global warming Chicken Little alarmists will still remind us the sky is falling and the Rush Haters will cry that he has no right to scare them so. And as Darbraun so eloquently advised, “Get outside for some fresh air!”

Is there anyone here who knows anything about science? There are LOTS of people who know a LOT about “surface”. This missile will scatter moon dust THOUSANDS of miles around the lunar surface. Lunar dust is very fine and with no atmosphere and 1/6 gravity, there will be almost nothing to slow the dust down. And “Obama” had nothing to do with the planning, budget, or OK for this mission, so please leave your politics on Earth.

No one asked me if they could bomb my Moon. “people of the Earth is it ok to bomb the Moon?” NO!! Who knows how slight the Moon is? Who knows enough about surface? NO ONE!!
We need our Moon and I sure don’t want anyone playing around with it. Is this what will turn the Moon Red? In the Bible. So there are not enough problems down here on Earth and to use these millions of dollars to help people? Nasa is messed up. I am horrified that you took such a risk!!
Thanks Nasa for hurting our ( People of the Earth’s) Moon..LEAVE IT ALONE AND MARS ALONE!!!

So many people listen to Rush as though he speaks the truth on every matter. So my sense of humor or satire is also lost. Rush constantly drones for the failure of the president. Should I view that as satire too? LImbaugh also blasts drug addicts while he himself knows what it means to be addicted. Should I also view that as humor or satire?

There is most likely amoeba of some sort on the moon, and they water to survive, very small amounts. Bombing the moon WILL upset this balance Remember life on earth started out with small life forms. Just because we don’t see beings that look just like us does not mean there is not life on Moon.
We are SO heavy handed and self righteous. Look what we’ve done to our beautiful Earth.
