Senate Democrats Want You (To Post This Widget)!

A new widget created by Democrats in the US Senate is appearing on various blogs and websites. The widget is intended to inform people about the number of Americans that are lacking health care.

The nifty little widget is a ticker that began with the number 43 million. That’s the number of people that don’t have insurance coverage according to data released by the U.S. Census in September. People are able to get the widget code from the Democratic Caucus website. The ticker is now at a little over of 50,370,000.

Currently at the Senate, Democrats are trying to get the votes they need to pass needed health care reform. Senator Harry Reid is now in charge of merging the proposed bills from two different committees: One very liberal (the HELP Committee), the other centrist-right (the Finance Committee).

Reid began talks with fellow senators and White House staff on the merging process on Wednesday. Some of that footage was captured in a short video that appears on the Democratic Caucus website. The video also shows Reid saying that he believes in the public option and that “it should be there.” You can look at this video at the bottom of this page.

The Help bill is not very liberal. It’s a moderate bill. A very liberal bill would be single payer. The Help bill is the right balance.
