In the 1940s there were at least two recorded instances of German U-Boat sailors landing on the shores of Long Island, NY and Cape Hatteras, NC. Also, the Japs controlled the Alaska Aleutian Islands for over 2 years.

Do you think Americans in the 1940s would’ve been concerned about an Anti-Jap or Anti-Kraut backlash, particularly since they were invading the US Homeland as the Islamic Jihadists are doing now?

Do you not think that this PC attitude is killing people? No one will speak out because of hurting feelings and appearing intolerant. What you are seeing is the intolerance of any other religion by even the moderate Muslim community and until we recognize this threat or at least question it openly without fear of not appearing PC; it will continue to haunt us. Ask one question; if there was any other church in the US that had spawned as many events; would you be silent?

The problem, Ole, is that the allegations of Islamic terrorism are already in the media spin and some of the public discourse. What needs to be done is to diffuse the xenophobic hysteria that is at work concerning this.

I think we need to wait until the facts come out about this situation before we claim this was Islamic terrorism. In fact, his life path seems to counter that assertion.

Either way, as an atheist (part of the group most discriminated against in the US), I hope this does not result in more intolerant hysteria. There is enough of that going around right now, and it doesn’t do anybody any good.
