Respecting another’s faith does not mean you have to agree and patronize them so their feeling don’t get hurt. Hume gave a heart felt invite to consider another faith.
What ever happened to openness and honesty? He was being an authentic Christian, not trying to judge Tiger himself.
Sharing one’s faith in good will is foundational to Christian scripture and Jesus’ example. It should not be done with the sword as some Muslim do, or as some crusaders did.
I think your real rub is this: “A Television news anchor should understand not to push his religious beliefs on the audience. It’s simply classless and irresponsible.” That’s not a religion problem, that is a human and major American problem – people don’t like others challenging, questioning stating that their beliefs are in error or wrong…we want to continue to walk arrogant /indifferent and in rebellion to the call to believe in Jesus. IMO.

Here’s what you obviously don’t understand. Buddhists wouldn’t go there in the first place. Buddhist in their teaching have an equal respect for all other faiths. A Television news anchor should understand not to push his religious beliefs on the audience. It’s simply classless and irresponsible.

Brit, you’re said to be a Christian. I don’t think that faith offers the kind of forgiveness and redemption that is offered by the Buddhist faith. So my message to you is Brit, is to turn to the Buddhist faith and you can make a total recovery and be a great example to the world.

See how I made statements without any knowledge of what I’m talking about?

Does that really work on some people? I guess it would: to the people who blindly support anything and everything Christian without even knowing why. After all, “faith” is defined as something you believe without having any evidence.

If Hume had said the opposite, that Woods should leave Christianity and become a Buddhist in order to SAVE HIMSELF, you all would singing his praises.

In America, Is the freedom of speech for one’s religion no longer acceptable if one is a Christian?

Hume thinks a saving faith in Jesus Christ, trusting in Gos, not oneself, is more beneficial and true than Buddhism.

Get over it.

This comment by Hume is insane. How can Fox permit this type of commentary. Our country was founded with religious freedom. Fox is pandering to the extreme right, it’s hard to believe intelligent people actually work for Fox.

While his sentiments may be in the right place, his candor reflects extreme bias. He pretty dismissed the religious beliefs of millions. Brit, I would strongly suggest that you first study and understand the teachings of Buddhism before making such a statement. I only wish we could regress in history and get the testimonies of millions of so-called “heretics” who were tortured and murdered in the name of Christianity to get their take on your comment.
