Serious Fun: Jon Stewart on the O’Reilly Factor

Jon Stewart’s appearance on “The O’Reilly Factor” Wednesday night generated exciting TV, as both the Comedy Central maestro and Bill O made some astute points. Stewart–in his affable, disarming way– put Bill O on the defensive about Fox’s “passionate” but “paranoid” narrative. Stewart called O’Reilly the “voice of sanity on Fox… which is like being the thinnest kid at fat camp.”

Bill O took on Stewart’s criticisms of Obama, calling “Daily Show” viewers, “stoned slackers who love Obama,” warning him he might offend his audience. “Whatever you say, ” Stewart, retorted, “You risk offending somebody.”

Here you’ll find funny moments, of course, but there’s also a serious and interesting exchange between two influential TV opionmeisters.
