Of course, it has to do with the US 2012 election cycle, not the military operations in Afghanistan. Unless Americans start protesting the war, and doing like the Europeans, which is to vote for politicians running on a withdraw platform, the US will be left in Afghanistan 'holding the bag" on its own for decades to come. It is absolutely impossible to turn the military situation around between now and the summer of 2011. They know it, but they pretend not to. My take is simple; they will all pull out by summer 2011, which is the unrealistic Obama administration’s deadline to “start” a pull out.

Of course, it has to do with the US 2012 election cycle, not the military operations in Afghanistan. Unless Americans start protesting the war, and doing like the Europeans, which is to vote for politicians running on a withdraw platform, the US will be left in Afghanistan ‘holding the bag” on its own for decades to come.
