Ed Schultz Nails “The Hammer”
MSNBC’s Ed Schultz nailed “The Hammer,” Tom DeLay over comments the former House Majority Leader made on CNN’s “State of the Union” Sunday. DeLay-who in case you forgot–is still under indictment for alleged funny money business–told Candy Crowley unemployment extensions were dangerous because such a safety net only fuels a lazy citizenry. When a skeptical Crowley questioned that insensitive contention as “such a hard sell,” De Lay swatted the rebuff away like a pesky fly during a “Dancing with the Stars” rehearsal. “People in the real world know it.” he said.
Schultz also lambasted DeLay’s comments about Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi strong- arming Congress to push through Health Reform, pointing out that DeLay was infamous for holding up legislation and twisting arms. Hence the moniker:”The Hammer.” Talk about hypocritical “psycho talk.”
Think he’ll be motivated to apply for a gig in the prison laundry room? Just wondering.

Ok, I have known one guy that worked just long enough to qualify for unemployment and then would get let go. I have known two other people that didn’t take jobs that paid less than what they wanted. Yes, Tom Delay is a hypocrite but that doesn’t mean he isn’t speaking the truth about Pelosi. Just because you don’t want to believe something doesn’t make it untrue.
I’m sure you’re right, Eric, some people will just sit around until the last week or so. But in a time when job losses so far outweigh new jobs, an extension of this TEMPORARY safety net is crucial to a lot of hard working people and their families. And DeLay’s insensitivity is astounding. What’s more distressing is how many other pols see to feel the same way. Go home, guys, and start pounding the pavement,.
