Hubbard's (3rd) wife was named Mary Sue Hubbard, not Susan. If anyone wants to know more about Scientology's army of lawyers, trolls, and PI's, a good place to start would be the Wikipedia page titled "Scientology vs. the Internet".

If you are looking for an example of how broken our federal government is, look no farther than the IRS's inept handling of the so called "Church" of Scientology. There have been numerous articles, books,TV documentaries, lawsuits, etc...exposing this Cult's criminal activities - and yet the Federal Gov't continues to "look the other way".

The IRS should be held accountable and have to explain why they have shown such favoritism to the Church of Scientology , especially in light of the church's publicized crimes.

IMO, if your looking for home grown terrorism - it's right under your nose - try reading the Church of Scientology's religious policies - and you will find that the "Church" not only condones but ENCOURAGES its members/staff to break laws and engage in criminal activities.

There is nothing remotely religious about this so called "church".

Liam: In the interests of freedom of speech, please do me the honor of publishing my opinion that your post makes a mockery of your claimed purpose of "making sense of the news."

Your post makes no sense at all, never mind "of the news."

Your simplistic rendition of the Sklar case and reliance on their failed argument that Scientology practices should be re-classified as religious education is pathetic. The ONLY people who believe that crap are the looney-tunes hate-mongers who wrote the intellectually barren items you name in your of-so-scholarly list of citations.

By the way, for the benefit of Bobby D and Marc A, I of course am an OSA agent. But their judgment is impaired -- they think you are brilliant. HAHAHAHAHA

Nice article, the Office of Special Affairs agents who patrol the Internet will probably be along to comment on it.

This secret deal between Scientology needs to be fully disclosed, transparency is the lifeblood of our democratic way of life. Lack of free speech, which Scientology wants, and these secret deals only serve greed
and evil.

Thank you for this well-researched, well-written article. OSA's role in Scientology is hardly ever mentioned in the press, but it gets to the heart of why Scientology has a fascist political ideology and is dangerous to a free society.

One of the first things that OSA does when facing a government "enemy" is to infiltrate by having agents hired as secretaries and janitors. This is presumably how a court in France "lost" evidence in a class-action lawsuit against Scientology in 1999:

The problem is not with the religious status of the Church.
It is a religion as Zen Buddhism is a religion as well, however does not beleive in god. There are "science fiction" stories in the Bible as well. The story of Adam and Eve, etc...
The problem lies in Scientology in how it is practicing the religion itself.
It wants rights for itself but at the same time it does not give the same rights to its followers. And at the end it wants everyone to be its slave.
Weather it is Scientology which is guilty in this or it is only the Church is a question. But it is without question that we are facing an Orwellian nightmare.
The Church gathers sensitive data of its members in confessions that can lead at the end to the blackmail of all governments. But very probably it would not be for world peace and sensible freedom and prosperity for all but only for another tyranny. At least the Church present actions are clearly showing this.
If the citizen of the USA and present Scientologists all want to become SO members and sooner or later experience RPF (Scientology prison) or disconnection (being cut communication from family members friends and business partners) than the best route to sit and do nothing. It is by actual statistics that as much as 90 percent or more of Scientologists are fall into these later categories.
Scientology at present equals Human Rights Abuse.
