Michael Moore Skewer’s ‘Sicko’ Health Reform

Michael Moore appeared on MSNBC’s “Countdown” on Monday to talk about the Health Reform bill. On the night Keith Olbermann lost his beloved dad, the outspoken documentary filmmaker discussed the pitfalls of the watered down legislation with guest host Laurence O’Donnell. While O’Donnell, who had interviewed a woman battling leukemia without health insurance in the previous segment, tried to egg Moore on to support the proposed plan as a “better than nothing” first step, Moore couldn’t bring himself to support the plan he compared to an old “AMC Pacer.” He noted there are a few good things in it, but it is simply not good enough. Moore applauded progressive hold out Rep. Dennis Kucinich for vowing to vote against the bill.

Sources tell us Kucinich will hold a news conference Wednesday during which he will reluctantly support the legislation as a “first step towards a public option,” using the language the White House apparently used in currying his support.

In a moving moment at the end of the segment, Moore handed O’Donnell a check for the The National Association of Free Clinics in honor of Keith’s father, Theodore Olbermann.
