Financial Records Show GOP Was “Big Pimpin” At California Club
GOP Chairman Michael Steele is in hot water after financial reports for this month showed luxurious and “big pimpin” spending sprees by staff.
According to the Washington Post:
RNC’s latest filings captured widespread attention for one expenditure at a risque nightclub: $1,946.25 for “meals” at Voyeur in West Hollywood, which features topless dancers wearing horse bridles and other bondage gear while mimicking sex acts.
And, according to the Los Angeles Times:
A party spokesman said Monday that the RNC reimbursed Erik Brown, president of a southern California firm that has provided direct mail services to political campaigns, for a Jan. 31st outing at Voyeur West Hollywood. A Los Angeles Times review described Voyeur as a “risqué” club where “provocative scenes play out above and beyond patrons’ reach,” including themes of bondage.
Erik Brown has been fired over the controversy and Steele denies ever going to the club. The GOP says that Brown is “committed” to re-paying the money.
Other “big pimpin” style expenses for the GOP, according to the financial disclosures to the Federal Election Commission: $17,000 spent on trips in private jets; $15,000 on limo rides, and over $30,500 spent at luxury hotels.
