Breaking: Right Wing Begins Internet Attacks

Following a coordinated window smashing campaign by angry conservatives following the historic passing of health care reform, the attacks have now moved to cyberspace. Various websites critical of the Tea Parties, Sarah Palin, and the right wing overreaction to health care reform have begun experiencing DDOS attacks by hackers.

Sarah Jones, reports:
Politicususa has been told we are under DDOS attack. It is not a spammer, it is a deliberate attack. Our server host is diligently working to resolve this issue and if they can determine the origin of the attacker, they will be prosecuted.

According to unnamed sources, there have been attacks on at least 4 other progressive websites after stories on Sarah Palin, all which all prefer not to be mentioned, including 2 major ones.  The attack on PoliticusUSA, administrated by Jason Easley, is the most extensive attack on a progressive website during this wave however, and the site was still down at publishing time.

These coordinated attacks are the latest from an increasingly desperate and radical conservative movement following the landslide victory of Barack Obama and progressive Democrats in the 2008 election. They follow such deplorable acts as windows getting smashed in multiple locations (mainly Democratic offices), people being spit on, a man repeated ramming a car that had an Obama bumper sticker, a hero of the Civil Rights movement being called a “nigger”, assassination threats, the openly gay Congressman Barney Frank being called a “faggot”, a propane line being cut at at a residence, a mysterious white powder being mailed, a noose being faxed, and threats to kill the children of a member of congress who voted for reform.

Right wing violence following the vote to reform health care reform

Remember, these attacks have all taken place in the span of 2 weeks since health care reform was passed.  An interactive version of the Google map above can be found here.

There has been a clear trend going on for the last 18 months since Sarah Palin entered the political landscape. The rhetoric has been jacked up to epic levels, and the fear, hate, and intolerance has grown exponentially as a result. In response to the health care vote, she told her followers on Facebook: “Don’t retreat, RELOAD!”

There has been a dramatic rise in so called “Patriot” groups over the last year, with the Southern Poverty Law Center recording a massive 244% rise in these groups last year alone. The SPLC adds, “Militias – the paramilitary arm of the Patriot movement – were a major part of the increase, growing from 42 militias in 2008 to 127 in 2009.“ One week ago, acting on evidence of imminent attacks, an anti-terrorism task force raided the Hutaree militia in three states.

Conservative Christian extremists are also targeting Obama with prayers for his death, virtual fatwas, and slogans such as: “Let his days be few; and let another take his office. Let his children be fatherless, and his wife a widow.”

There is an interwoven web of conservative groups that have responded to heightened sense of incitement from various sources, including the so called ‘entertainers’ at Fox News and talk radio. There is a chilling feel in the air reminiscent of the days before the Oklahoma City bombing by other right wing terrorists over a decade ago.

These DDOS, or denial-of-service attacks, are a form of cyberwarfare, meant to shut down a website. According to Wikipedia:

One common method of attack involves saturating the target (victim) machine with external communications requests, such that it cannot respond to legitimate traffic, or responds so slowly as to be rendered effectively unavailable. In general terms, DoS attacks are implemented by either forcing the targeted computer(s) to reset, or consuming its resources so that it can no longer provide its intended service or obstructing the communication media between the intended users and the victim so that they can no longer communicate adequately. Denial-of-service attacks are considered violations of the IAB’s Internet proper use policy, and also violate the acceptable use policies of virtually all Internet Service Providers. They also commonly constitute violations of the laws of individual nations.

The founder of FreakOutNation, Anomaly One Hundred was also was the target of a virus that spread through Facebook yesterday. Reportedly, this was a derogatory picture that linked to a phishing site, and has since been removed by the Facebook staff.

PoliticusUSA released the following press statement:

For Immediate Release
Right Wing Violence Goes Cyber as Progressive Blog Is DDoS Attacked

The right wing has gone from threatening physical violence to carrying out actual cyber attacks on liberal and progressive websites.

The latest victim of this behavior is the progressive liberal blog, which has been under a major DDoS* assault for the past ten days in retaliation for several stories about the Tea Party movement, right wing violence, and Sarah Palin.

PoliticusUSA is a growing website, founded in 2008. It has doubled in size every year for the past the past two years and has in fact grown 600% over the previous year due to the strength of its unique political opinion and progressive point of view.

DDoS attacks deliberately target a victim website in order to disable it and are a violation of:
1. National Information Infrastructure Protection Act of 1996
2. United States Code Title 18 Section 1030 (Fraud and Related Activity in Connection with Computers)
3. The US Patriot Act of 2001 (which amends United States Code Title 18 Section 1030)

Our host provider has been working around the clock to combat the attack and return PoliticusUSA to full, protected online status. We are committed to continuing to serve our readers and appreciate their support though this attack. We have been in contact with law enforcement and are exploring the possibility of prosecuting the perpetrators to the full extent of the law.

PoliticusUSA owner/administrator Jason Easley said, “These politically motivated attacks are just a temporary delay. These malicious attacks will not deter us from providing the best quality coverage of both progressive politics and the extremist behavior of the right wing, the Tea Party movement, Sarah Palin and the GOP. Our first amendment rights will not be deterred by illegal attempts to intimidate us or silence our criticisms. ”

PoliticusUSA writer Sarah Jones, who has been the victim of previous attempts to censor her writing on Sarah Palin, emphatically added, “It is Un-American to the core to resort to intimidation and violence in the face of dissenting political opinion and lost elections, this violation of our freedoms is further evidence of the far right’s desperation and declining influence. As Sarah Palin recently said, ‘We’re not going to sit down and shut up.’ At PoliticusUSA, we’re going to stand up for our freedoms.”

PoliticusUSA is honored to join the ever-growing progressive websites being targeted by the right wing.

UPDATE 1:52 pm PST on 06Apr2010: PoliticusUSA is finally back up from their internet attack, and has released a scathing rebuke of those responsible.

Editors note – If you have witnessed any further attacks or have more information, please email, and follow @NewsJunkiePost on Twitter for more updates.

Well, since the author has no definitive proof of where these attacks originated or what ISP’s were involved,it sounds to me like this was probably a ‘false flag’ op by somebody working for Barokeydoke Hubris Obozo to make it appear that the ‘right wing’ was involved….they same way lefty syncophants try to label tea partiers as ‘nazis’ or ‘racists’ or whatever the epithet du jour happens to be…it’s sad…I may bust out crying any minute now

I have definitive proof, but when a source asks not be identified, that information is confidential. However, just as with the window smashing campaign, I suspect a couple right wing sites may suffer the same DDOS attacks to make the *appearance* that this is not a partisan attack.

If your person had the proof, why are they not going to the police/FBI and having the perpetrators arrested?

Seems like it’s crying wolf here at the moment until we can all see some tangible proof.

you people just take away our insurance, and make the states levy your redistribution taxes, and send the IRS to our houses backed by judges and police with guns, and you say your not violent, or above the law, or break your promises by having your presidential pick levy taxes on the poor and middle class, and ignore he is such a wimp making the states and insurance companies do his bidding while hiding behind his teleprompter. The day that your heroes made in mandatory that we be forced to do economic business with private parties that we have not agreed to the terms, yet refuse to call it slavery is the day you hacked into our freedoms, which is far worse than crying over some nerds hacking into your Sarah Palin smut.

There has been no coordinated or uncoordinated for that matter, window smashing campaign from conservatives. It has been GOP offices and GOP congressman who have had their property vandalized by liberals. It was a liberal and Obama donor who was arrested for threatening the life of Eric Cantor.

The man who threatened Cantor (Normal Laboon) was no liberal. He was a religious nut.

The window smashing campaign was initiated by a right wing, Tea Party ‘patriot’ named Mike Vanderboegh of Pinson, Alabama who is behind Sipsey Street Irregulars. He is the former leader of the Alabama Constitutional Militia. In his call to arms, he writes:

“I’m advocating broken windows. I’m advocating vandalism. We can break their windows.Break them NOW. Break them and run to break again. Break them under cover of night. Break them in broad daylight. Break them and await arrest in willful, principled civil disobedience. Break them with rocks. Break them with slingshots. Break them with baseball bats.”

Thank you for clarifying that as Beck said on National television that it was all left wingers breaking windows. The truth is that these attacks go hand in hand with a massive scale propaganda campaign and actual laws to put is into a Nazi style government. The pattern is repeating. Just like pre-Nazi Germany, there was economic decline and runaway inflation. The Vatican helped craft and push through the Enabling Act which gave Hitler power. It was done on a fake campaign promise of National Socilism. Now, we have propaganda that there is socialism in the Worlds staunchest Capitalistic society, as Capitalists are taking Capital, manufacturing and jobs overseas, creating poverty at home and thus inciting riots. There is a fake division created between 2 sides which are really not opposites and the Government is blamed , even though they are clearly Companies using the Government. There is a Vatican Pope who is a former Nazi youth and who covers up alleged child abuse. It is being enabled as S.3081 now in front of Congress. The Big Brother Bill.

Conclusion: We are being overthrown by Axis Powers, now aligned with China and Israel, Central and South America in a military coup controlled by Industrialists and Telephone Companies who control the Internet.

Education is the short answer. Willful ignorance is more appropriate name for it. It is easier to be told what to think than to think for yourself. People grow up with or choose a “side” and listen to it. The only way this sickness can be cured is if individuals begin taking responsibility and start doing their own legwork. If you read a study, research who funded the study and the results may not look as factual. If you want to vote on a law, read the law(it takes time, it’s often confusing, but practice makes it easier. Many laws are written to be confusing to discourage people from reading it, ASK WHY). Investigate public officials on your own. You can find out a lot of what is “given” to politicians from lobbyists. And never forget what
Politics” stands for! Poli(many)+Tic[k]s(blood sucking parasites). (And before I get corrected, I know it’s not the actual root, but what many actually do, it’s a joke that is funny because it has an air of truth) At the end of the day, it’s not about who is right and who is wrong, it’s about the state of the union. And on behalf of everyone who agrees with me – F@#K THIS S#*T!

we’re a manic-depressive nation, with tendencies towards collective psychosis every now and then. there’s often more than a touch of good old paranoia involved, along the need to let somebody else do our thinking for us.

we’re particularly susceptible to propaganda–political or religious–depending on the amount of education we’ve failed to receive.

our strength is in our diversity; if any set of groups–say, religious–banded together, we’d be a full theocracy in two seconds flat. or a fully facistic society, if political groups banded. which may yet happen with the Teabaggers and the Republicans.

our weakness is also in our diversity. we’re schizophrenic. there’s one hell of a lot of voices that we’re hearing. Mary appears in a taco, Jesus on a windshield, and suddenly we’ve got to take action against the infidels and heretics.

But if you’re already crazy (like me) you can survive these periods of instability, and alternate between laughing at it all, or crying about the waste of it all.

I love that they asked for “Public Defenders” (and they thought they could bring down our government), undercover FBI agent, sweet. The simpleton Tea baggers keep missing the point. These are the same whiners that were crying when the McCain/Bailin ticket lost. Now they are crying again because their yelling and screaming (because they are haters not debaters or as others have dubbed them screamers not dreamers) did not stop the health care debate or the bill from passing. They think they can scare, intimidate and force others to go along with them by comments like “This time we came unarmed”, let me tell you something they are not the only ones that are armed and not all ex-military join the fringe militia crazies who don’t pay taxes and run around with face paint in the parks playing commando, the majority are mature and understand that the world is more complicated and grey than the black and white that these simpleton make it out to be and that my friend is the point. Do not cry when regular people openly laugh at your group when they see on TV that your leaders are Sarah Bailin, Orly Taitz, Victoria Jackson, Michele Bachmann and your own turn coat Glenn Beck from the LDS. They do more to discredit you group on TV (powerful) than any of comments on the blog sphere. Yee Haw!

Violence on either side of the political aisle should neither be entertained or encouraged. Regardless, this is not the Democrats, it is the Republicans, deceived and whipped into a frenzy by Right wing talkers such as Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh. This behavior is dangerous and if not discouraged will result in someone dying for a lie disseminated by Fox News, the propaganda arm of the Republicans, and spread by the Right Wing brown shirts , the Tea Baggers.

Reverand Moon, the former North Korean convicted rapist, Yakuza mob creator during WWII in Japan, Nazi collaborator in South America after WWII and builder of weapons, crowned in the Dirkson building, imprisoned for fraud, builder of surface to air missiles, submarines, and self proclaimed God, mind controller and victimizer, is the owner of much of this media campaign and the backers of Malone and Limbaugh.

The advertisers who sell products and the right wing drug enabled owners of the US media are the ones behind this. It is not just violence, it is a slow boiling Act of War on the US by Axis Powers expanded, re-armed and using propaganda and massive multi-point to multipoint wireless networked mind control attacks.

It was planned (pre-meditated), organized and financed (Rico Act Mob), (CIA/DEA drug cartel with the Band of Pablo Escobar), stolen bank money (BCCI, Enron), and funded with these sources. (Rupert Murdock) (Berlusconi) It is laundered through Panama just as trade was during WWII.

It will be enabled as Hitler was by the Enabling Act by S.3081 by McCain/Leiberman and as before, sanctioned by a Nazi Pope.

This time they are much better armed with Electronic and Communications Weapons, Networks and Media, and an enslaved, mind controlled militia that is ready to kill their neighbors for the doublespeak they hear and the induced feeling they have of rage. Their “hot buttons” are on an operators keyboard, probably in the PRC (People’s Republic of China).

It is virtual warfare, a Cyber War.

Check back a couple of posts. It was suggested that the Conservatives did just that to cover up their attacks on the Liberals.

I continue to be amazed at the duplicity exhibited by both sides in this. Four years ago the roles were reversed and GB was being harassed. That was justified, according to the Libs. The harassment of BO, of course, is not.

The two party system is damaged beyond repair in the U.S. Both have the attitude that “my way is the only way” and the liberty is the big loser.

I happen to think everyone should be able to go to the doctor. What I am tired of is an ever expanding government that has it’s hand in my paycheck. Why don’t all you liberals sign up for some extra funds to come out of your paycheck to help pay for this crap bill. I bet you that line would be short. You liberals always want to give someone else’s dime away. Step up and pay for all these programs yourself. I would like to opt out.

The bipartisan (and by all accounts, fiscally conservative) CBO projects $143 billion in deficit reduction over the first 10 years due to health care reform, with $1.2 TRILLION in savings over the 10 years after that. This is one of the things that makes this reform most important.

However, from the tone of your rant, I doubt that matters to you.

What a storm in a tea cup – oops sorry.
Here in Europe most countries have some decent form of healthcare and are considered civilised. Some aren’t even communist or socialist. In fact some are still monarchies.
WTF is it with Americans that they don’t want the less well off to have basic rights. It can’t be about the money You use 25% of the worlds resources and have low taxes and still can’t feed, educate or care for your own folk.
    Doesn’t sound civilised to me.
The 3 tenants of a civilised country is that it 1, protects it’s people. 2, educates their people. 3, cares for it’s people.
What’s so wrong with that?? Really?
