Murdoch’s Fox Fumble

Maybe media mogul Rupert Murdoch has been too busy managing his new acquisition “The Wall Street Journal.” Or maybe he just never realized “Fair and Balanced” was just some goofy slogan a couple of ad guys concocted after an all-nighter with a box of Twinkies. Murdoch told an audience at the Washington Press Club Tuesday that while “The New York Times” is “Obama’s water carrier” and most reporters on CNN and MSNBC are Democrats, Fox News is not Republican. Or Conservative. No party affiliation whatsoever.

And that includes the Tea Party. He told a reporter from Media Matters “No, I don’t think we should be endorsing the Tea Party. But I’d like to investigate what you’re saying before I condemn anyone.”

No problem, Mr. Murdoch, Keith Olbermann was quick to oblige with a pretty iron-clad investigation on Wednesday’s “Countdown.”

Guess the News Corps titan forgot about Glenn Beck’s 9/12 rally and all those bazillion protesters. Or Sarah Palin–his pal Roger Ailes’ latest recruit–stumping for that other Tea Party darling, Michelle Bachmann Wednesday. Oh, yeah, and with whom did the Tea Party’s Thelma and Louise chat with after the rally? Fox golden boy Sean Hannity.

No party affiliation or bias. None. And anyway, Fox must employ some Democrats, right? Murdoch is pretty sure, but was hard-pressed to come up with a name. “Greta Van Susteren is pretty close to the Democratic Party,” he finally offered. And “there’s that lady from California.”

Maybe Murdoch just needs some coffee. Now would be a good time for the Coffee Party to start waving gag Fox News signs at their rallies. If the company honcho is so confused, maybe no one will notice the difference. And the Coffee partiers could get some coverage on Faux News.
