No, fascism is diametrically opposed to socialism. This is why so many socialists ended up in concentration camps during the Nazi’s reign over Germany. Socialism is against the state being a puppet for big corporations, it is an ideology that pretty much mandates state intervention to prevent corporate exploitation.

I understand exactly where you are coming from except for the fact that I believe there is most certainly a differentiation between the two parties. The Democrats certainly have their corruption problems as well, but the vast majority who do are conservative or moderate Democrats.

The Democratic Wing of the Democratic Party usually relies on the much more painstaking task of raising grassroots money by individual donors, and are not perfect, but far less beholden to corporate interests.

I did not give Obama a pass in the article however. I mentioned that he has become a strong target of the proto-fascist hate that has come from Fox ‘news’ and the Tea Party movement as a symbol of the left. By Western standards (Europe/Canada/Japan/OZ), he most certainly is not a leftist. I think he would be more of a center right candidate in most of their countries in fact.

You just contradicted yourself. You freely admit that corporations control elections, but you just skip over the part that corporations simply gave Obama more money, and since he was elected he has done the bidding of corporate america in exactly the same way that McCain would have. We still torture, we’re still in Iraq and Afghanistan, we still bailed out wall street, and we just passed a republican wall street bailout of the health insurance industries. That healthcare bill wasn’t Modest”-it was highway robbery. Just because the tea party dislikes Obama doesn’t mean that Obama is leftist. The teabaggers are too credulous and gullible to see that Obama is one of them-a free-market, imperial conservative. Adn pretending that he isn’t is getting harder to do as time goes on. When will we on the left pull our collective heads out of the sand and STOP defending the one party system?
