Kentucky’s Tempest In The Tea Party: Rand Paul’s Implosion Tour Continues

Ultimately it will be up to Kentucky voters, but it seems Rand Paul’s national honeymoon is over. A day after his disastrous interview on “The Rachel Maddow Show” The GOP Senate nominee faced George Stephanopoulos on “Good Morning America.” Hard to imagine he’ll win too many converts by blasting President Obama as “un-American” for “putting his boot heel to the throat of BP” in the wake of the disaster in the Gulf that was caused, in part, by relaxed regulations fueled by corporate greed and the previous administration’s cozy relationship with big oil. But, for now, Paul still has a substantial lead in the polls over his Democratic challenger, Kentucky Attorney General Jack Conway.

Combative and on the defensive,The Tea Party’s favorite son squeals foul at every turn, blaming “red herrings” on the Democratic Party, Rachel Maddow and MSNBC. Really, Dr. Paul? Think this opthamologist is blind to the tempest he keeps brewing in his so-called libertarian tea pot. But listen to Paul’s own words. And you be the judge.

  1. And as he was howling about his lost honeymoon he was slamming the President about BP oil.

I dont think he really wanted a honeymoon, or else he forgot what one does on the honeymoon.

  2. The 20 people that watch Mancow are already Obama zombies, and the rest of the nation can’t stand Mancow anyway. What happens on her show will only be reported on the lame street media… and they don’t represent Paul’s voting block.

ANYONE that hates Obama and his policies has my vote… no matter WHAT they might say.

    • “Mancow” made Racist Boy look like a twelve year old, way out of his league. Just your speed, I guess. I’m sure you’re irritated in that brainless Palin sort of way, but Obama, a great man, *did* win the vote. Rand is a blatant Confederate racist, so are you, so is the entire Tea Party movement. Garbage in (Boehner, Palin, Rand baby, “Oxycodone Dealer” Limbaugh), garbage out.

You cowards, you phony flag wavers, were nowhere to be found while war criminals and traitors Bush and Cheney wrecked the economy, started a lies-based war, ruined our standing in the world, crapped on the Constitution and handed complete power over to large corporations.

“ANYONE that hates Obama and his policies has my vote… no matter WHAT they might say.”

Really? Spoken like a true robot with no brain.

People like you are humorous and entertaining, like watching a never-ending car wreck. Enjoy Rand Paul making everyone realize his dad’s politics suck as well; Ron was just far more creative and talented espousing said views.

I’m starting to wonder if they’ll be much of a Repub bounce at all in the midterms, with political ineptness of this scale.

  3. Historian Tom Woods, who has contributed to Ron Paul’s best-selling books, addresses the smear campaign using concise and eloquent language:

The Left is going after Rand Paul over the 1964 Civil Rights Act. Why, Rand Paul secretly wants to repeal it, they say, which means we’d have segregated restaurants all over again. Now any non-hysteric knows a segregated restaurant would be boycotted and picketed out of existence within ten seconds, but we’re supposed to fret about fictional outcomes from the repeal of a law that will never be repealed. And certainly we cannot question the 1964 Act, since our betters have decided the matter is closed.
Of course, someone might have objected to that Act on the grounds that it would of course lead to affirmative action, since racially proportionate hiring is the only practical way to prove one has not been “discriminating.” One might also object to the law on constitutional grounds, or on the grounds that (as has indeed happened) it would lead to legally protected classes whose members simply cannot be fired, since their employers know they will be hit with groundless but costly and time-consuming litigation. (Incidentally, black employment statistics saw far more progress in the one year before the 1964 Act than in the two years after it.)
As the Left sees it, none of these reasonable concerns can be the “real reason” for opposition to the 1964 Act. The real motivation is (what else?) a sinister and arbitrary desire to oppress blacks and other minorities for no good reason. The Left’s opponents are always and everywhere wicked and twisted people, who spend their time wondering how they can cause gratuitous harm to black people they have never met. Don’t believe me? Read the comments to this Politico article. These people have never in their lives deviated from what Official Opinion has demanded they believe. Without federal guns, we’d be back in the Dark Ages. The Left has its bogeymen and the neocons have theirs. The outcome is always the same: more power to the monopolists with the guns, and the unshakeable conviction that peaceful remedies are impossible.

And to think this smear was all started with an exaggerated comment by his GOP opponent!
Who the hell was even talking about 1964?

It’s ludicrous. These lefty conspiracy theorists, what will these wackaloons think up next?

  4. Look Amy Beth Hathaway, Rand Paul is a good guy.

  5. -1 Vote -1 Vote +1Go Rand GO!

Are you serious? Since when can’t someone philosophically discuss the limits government should have to tell private businesses what they can and can’t do? Rand did not say they SHOULD discriminate, so the tempest in the tea pot is with this cross-eyed writer.

Methinks her brain is crossed too. I doubt anyone who voted for Rand will change their mind in the general… Rand is the best candidate a well respected eye surgeon and smart as a whip…

    He’s for small gov’t too.

Spin spin all you want, not going to work!

You’ve overplayed the ‘racist’ hand so much, it’s useless now.

Why has the media turned a blind eye to Obama.

I mean they’ve never even asked to see any of his published writings prior to his presidency.

What did he say about central planning in his high school and college papers. What did Obama publish in law school?

The spineless media has shown their real contempt for the Constitution in their silence regarding Obama.

  7. You’re article is silly. Anyone paying attention knows it was a hit piece and the media is trying to discredit him because he’s the most quality person that’s been elected in over a decade.

  8. MBtok makes up stuff:
“The Left is going after Rand Paul over the 1964 Civil Rights Act.”

Specifically, they’re going after Paul’s statement that business, forbidden by the Civil Rights Act to discriminate, should be allowed to discriminate against whomever they please.

Doesn’t sound so hysterical and stupid when you give *all* the facts.

” Why, Rand Paul secretly wants to repeal it, they say, which means we’d have segregated restaurants all over again.”

No, Liar Boy, that’s not what “they” say. They have only pointed out Paul’s own statements concerning business discrimination.

Anyone that performed like such a buffoon as Paul did on Rachel Maddow is hardly even qualified to run for office, is hardly “the most quality person that’s been elected in over a decade”, as Steven tried to gush all over his posting.

Rand Paul is a pale a klutzy shadow of his dad so far, a dad whose talents I admire but whose views I completely disagree with.

You can now go back to being hysterically frightened of our black president.

he should have turned the tables on maddow and asked her why she isn’t into the meat. i would have pressed her until i got an answer. i think it’s unfair for that ugly thing to discriminate against the weiner.

but i have to be truthful. i wouldn’t touch her with your weiner auther. maybe if i was drunk and there was a paperbag around. yeh, i think i might do her.

Hey tea-baggers!! Forget Sarah Palin now you REALLY have a fool to rally around: Rand Paul. Parsing the 1964 Civil Rights Act shows him for what he really is: a racist who supports discrimination based on race and physical capability. But then the tea-baggers are just a sad group of old, white, rich, malcontent republicans who hate blacks, hispanics, asians, the middle class and the poor and can’t stand the fact that we have a black president. When they howl “TAKE BACK AMERICA!!!” they mean to take it back from the minorities. Luckily the middle class and the poor far outnumber the tea-baggers so they will have little effect in November and Rand Paul will fade away. Mark Montgomery NYC, NY 10036 boboberg@nyc.rr.com
