Fox Sinks Into BP Hole; MSNBC Rises

Democrats are famous for burying their candidates in the backyard, while the Republicans are notorious for propping them up long after they’re dead. One of the frustrating things for President Obama must be the unreliability of the progressive pundits. Our guys–Olbermann, Maddow, Walsh, Schultz, Dowd and Company– aren’t shy about calling out the President. They skewered his lukewarm BP speech in a way Fox News would never have done to any Bush speech. Ever.
Fox, meanwhile, has dug itself deep, deep into BP’s hole, spinning the story into a socialist science fiction parody in which BP is the victim. Think I’m kidding? Watch this montage–courtesy of Media Matters– and culled from recent Fox News misinformation fests:
Fox News is worried about “villainizing” BP? I guess they want to hold a benefit for Tony Hayward and Carl- Henric Svanberg, the clueless BP chair who, channeling the late hotel queen/convicted tax cheat Leona Helmsley, assured us the company does, in fact, care about “the small people.” I can’t help but wonder when Congressman Joe Barton, who had the audacity to declare the BP $20 billion dollar reparation fund ” a shakedown” during Thursday’s Congressional hearing on the oil spill, will sign on as a Faux News commentator. Maybe when the voters kick him to the curb.
Say what you will about MSNBC, but the commentators, all admittedly left-leaning, will levy criticism against the Democratic administration. I know some folks hurled angry tweets and e-mails at Keith Olbermann et al for harsh commentary. But such an honest appraisal only underscores my respect for the whole network. Yes, MSNBC is a liberal outlet, but it is a legit network that distinguishes between fact and opinion. And none of the hosts or commentators simply read off a list of party talking points.
Can’t say the same for Fox News. The misinforminators over there are still carrying Bush and Cheney’s water. Hard to believe anyone is still thirsty for such a tired, toxic cocktail.

LOL, luckily, no one with an ounce of common sense would take anything Faux News says seriously LOL

Excellent article and so true – who would believe Fox News anyway? Yes, I know they have a following but they don’t tell it like it is. Thanks for your views.
So Amy! When are you guys going to point out to the public that they own some of the responsibility for the BP fubar. I have been annoyed for years that smaller government and lower taxes are not the cure all for everything that aisl the U.S. When a country continually elects folks that seem to care less about the rights of people, it sure looks ot me like they got what they voted for, whether intended or not.
I thought we frequently pointed that out. Thanks for the reminder.
The more they talk, the more the viewers will know what they are all about…the corporate dollar. I couldn’t believe the one that was sooo concerned about the 7% of British pensioners that might lose money. Not ONCE did I hear any of them mention the American citizens that have lost their livlihoods, the destruction of their family businesses, the lose of wildlife, the lose of our pristine beaches… Wake up FOX viewers, do you see how you’ve been lied to for YEARS!!!!!?????
What a fluff peice.
when will the world stop buying HUMMERS AND ESCALADES? This rise in sales for gas guzzlers puts the reality out there that ALL PEOPLE SHOULD PAY ATTENTION and TO KEEP SPENDING FOR OIL IS NEVER HELPING!!!
Take some of that blame to your own family, there are many out there just spending away, laughing about this spill EVERYWHERE!
PS: Obama didn’t cause this, and how can one man in a suit do anything more about it!?! ACTIONS SPEAK LOUDER THAN WORDS, but who bothers to listen to that?
