President Obama, Seth Meyers Roast Trump, Media, Biden at White House Correspondents Dinner
President Obama and SNL head writer Seth Meyer’s dished out the zingers at the annual White House Correspondents Dinner in Washington Saturday night. From Joe Biden to Michele Bachmann to First Lady Michelle Obama no one was off limits.
Obama–who again proved himself an agile opening act– also took pot shots at himself with produced bits about his birth certificate and teleprompter addiction in a spoof of “The King’s Speech.” Donald Trump was subject to the biggest serving of jibes and while his odd Hairness smirked during a few of the President’s jokes, by the time Seth Meyers launched into his masterful set, the frozen scowl displayed The Donald’s thin skin. Strange for a guy who recently endured lashings from luminaries like Lisa Lampanelli and The Situation at that swanky event The Comedy Central Roast.
Watch The President’s remarks:
Seth Meyers–in one of the best performances in recent years– skewered a slew of media hot shots including Anderson Cooper, Chris Mathews and Brian Williams along with the weak field of GOP presidential hopefuls and Obama. The smooth and funny set was well received. With the exception of that aforementioned bloated billionaire now famous for dishing it out but not taking it.

And it’s great to see Obama having the loudest laugh. Not only at the Trump jokes. But also at those targeting him. Now that’s grace under pressure. I’m not suggesting Obama didn’t sneak a cigarette in the bathroom, but the guy knows how to flash a good sport’s brave face. Of course it doesn’t hurt that he fills out a tuxedo nicely and his hair–however grey it may become–doesn’t look like it could crawl off and run back to its birth place, China.
