New Firefox Add-on Warns You About The Dangers Of The Murdoch Propaganda Machine
This is a News Junkie Post exclusive.
In the continuing backlash against the Murdoch Empire, a Firefox add-on has just been released that warns a user when they arrive at a website owned by NewsCorp or any subsidiaries, such as Fox News or the NY Post.
Murdoch Alert was just created on Mozilla today, and the designer gave News Junkie Post an exclusive first look at it. The initial release version is 0.2 and comes with greasemonkey script for people who want to tweak it. From the Mozilla Add-on page:
MurdochAlert show a warning bar on Murdoch Family-controlled websites. This alerts users to the potential computer security risks of accessing Murdoch-controlled sites. Handy also for identifying the news sources controlled by the Murdoch Family.
This Firefox add-on is the kinder, gentler version of an extension for the Chrome browser released on Wednesday, July 20th called Murdoch Block. With this installed, if a user happens upon any website owned by the vast international NewsCorp company, a warning screen will appear asking the user if they are sure they want to visit this site. Less than 2 days old, there are 400 downloads of Murdoch Block.
Options are available on both Murdoch Alert and Murdoch Block to ignore the warning and enter anyways. A complete list of the sites owned by the NewsCorp machine was compiled by Jason Easley at PoliticusUSA: *EDIT: the list was actually compiled by the Reddit user eobanb with some help from others here. PoliticusUSA used it with permission when reporting about the Chrome extension.

The add-on is actually for Chrome, not Firefox.
Both actually.
Murdoch Alert (Firefox) https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/MurdochAlert-details/
Murdoch Block (Chrome) https://chrome.google.com/webstore/detail/moepiacmhnmbiilhpojodnaopndhddpg
Fox actually only owns 31% of Hulu. NBC and Disney own most of the rest of it.
Fantastic that it warns that security may be compromised, but it would be so much better if it let you know that all the ‘facts’ on the sites are likely compromised as well. ; )
HAHA, classic this is just what we need
thats ok.
I use another chrome-plugin to filter out DADT .
Whats good for the goose is good for the gander…
Hello! Actually the list was compiled by me with the help of some others on Reddit, at http://www.reddit.com/r/reddit.com/comments/inh25/almost_complete_list_of_news_corp_domains_to/ …Jason was kind enough to link to the list but he wasn’t the one that spent several hours putting it together
My apologies eobanb. I will update the article to give credit where credit is due.
I’ve had a list of News Corp. properties up at FNB for a while now (published in August 2009)… I’ll see if mine needs to be updated.

I’m putting up a post about these plugins & will cite NewsJunkiePost.com as the source. Thank you.
eobanb, I also added your list to the page on FNB. Hope you don’t mind… I gave you credit.
Fantastic! Now we need a similar BLOCK for the KOCH BROS. and their many Think Tank “enterprises” online and off-line. We gotta bring these BASTARDS to their knees.

Need a Koch Bros version
Koch Block, has a good ring to it!
Is there one that blocks Russia Today?
howdy this app wasn’t working but seemed benign enough but I restored my system anyhow for safety. are you using it mozzilla hasn’t vetted it yet either. I may have missed some of the conversation
I had a problem getting it to work on Fox News, but all the others worked well. It’s not an invasive add-on at all, and very resource minimal.
I think this is a great idea, as it keeps you progressive big brother lovers ignorant of what the opposition is actually up to, leaving you progressive big brother lovers ill-prepared for battle. Me, I prefer my information unfiltered by anyone but myself. You goose stepping progressive big brother lovers obviously prefer others determining what and what is not acceptable information for one to have knowledge of.
I hope the police find you before you shoot up a bunch of liberal kids.

I was already using the blocksite extension for this, so this is a welcome addition.
