Immigration Debate: Press One For Culture War In English

Anxiety about immigrants, immigration, and therefore immigration reform, tend to revolve around three broad categories of concern: economics, safety/security, and culture/race/language. Most of the talking points used by opponents or immigration or of immigration reform are not just untrue, they are the opposite of true, and strengthen the case for comprehensive reform. The anxiety of culture/race/language is the hardest for the antis to express honestly and the hardest for the left to address constructively.

Notes From Backstage At The Massive Immigration Rally

The immigration march Sunday in Washington should have gotten more attention than it did, especially from progressive advocates. But competing with the final or near-final dance culminating an almost year-long fight for health care reform. The rally for immigration was an impressive, important, and for me, breath-taking event that was a side-show to the day’s health care developments, especially if your primary – or only –language is English.
