Ronald Reagan: Not a “Pure” Republican When It Comes To Immigration

President Reagan, the Golden Boy of the Grand Old Party, was a chief proponent of America’s Golden Door of immigration and opportunity. He supported and signed the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986, a law that, among other things, set approximately 3 million immigrants then in the U.S. illegally on the path to legal status and, for many, eventual citizenship.

Rising Tide

Union participation has declined steadily since the 1960’s thanks to the recent prevailing small-government, big-business deregulation, hands off approach to free-market economics. And as it turns out, when they said smaller government, what the GOP really meant was, personal government, they wanted you and I to play no part at all in deciding how they redistributed our tax dollars to the top of the income pyramid.
