“Public Option” Makes It Through One More Round Of Negotiations

A deal was reached on Wednesday in the House Energy and Commerce Committee between Blue Dog democrats and Democrats supportive of the Henry Waxman healthcare bill, but very progressive members of Congress didn’t seem very happy with the deal.

Dead Zones & Plastics Still A Problem In Our Oceans

The clock is ticking as environmental groups and federal agencies are working to save endangered parts our oceans. Two of the biggest trouble spots that are getting lots of attention are the Gulf of Mexico’s “Dean Zone” and the other is retrieve large amounts of plastic accumulating on the ocean floor of the mid-Pacific Ocean.

Microsoft & Yahoo Take On Google

The 10-year agreement between Microsoft & Yahoo was a rumor for sometime, it has become a reality. The search engine Bing, owned by Microsoft, will now power Yahoo. In return, Yahoo will be better placed to compete with Google for a share of the online advertising revenue stream.

The Associated Press (AP) is not making any friends in the bloghesphere as it continues to hunt down people using any of its headlines and content without paying for it. AP is the biggest news service in the world, producing articles, photos, and video for public consumption through paid subscriptions by newspapers, radio, TV, and online broadcasters.

Sotomayor Closer To The Supreme Court

Judge Sonia Sotomayor is one step closer to becoming the first Hispanic to sit on the Supreme Court. The Senate Judiciary Committee voted to confirm her nomination. Only one Republican on the committee cast a vote in support. In doing so, he offered a stinging critique of his Republican colleagues. “Wise Latina” comments and the Second Amendment were sited as reasons for Republican opposition.
